Speed-Tech Equipment
More about the Company

Speed-Tech Equipment is a division of Speed Wrench Inc. which has been in business for over 30 years. The owners, John and Al Vandyke recognized there was a need for mobile service and repair on site.  The company started small with humble beginnings consisting of four employees, meeting on Monday mornings in the basement of John’s house. After getting the word out, the concept took off and we began to grow quickly which created a need to hire more employees. We started by doing some servicing and preventive maintenance work on compactors for Waste Management.  Along with that we started doing some service and installations for manufacturers and other local customers.

As things continued to grow, we began servicing some Sebright compactors and started leaning on them for support such as parts and service questions.

Sometime in the mid 1990’s, we met Brent Sebright and Wally Schneidenbach to discuss working together more and helping each other out. While we don’t remember the exact details, good came from it and we soon thereafter sold our first Sebright compactors to Haworth and Irwin Seating.  We purchased the base machine from Sebright, we built the decks with sheet metal enclosures, and installed them.  We liked Sebright compactors for both their quality and simplicity. While service has continued to be our core business, we have gotten into selling a few compactors and other waste-related equipment.

Speed Wrench’s other divisions continued to grow, including light duty and heavy-duty truck divisions.  By this time, we had a brick-and-mortar building and soon the heavy-duty truck department started servicing Sebright Products’ install trucks.  Some years later we started a division called AllPhase Hydraulics & Machine, rebuilding and repairing hydraulic cylinders and eventually manufacturing new hydraulic cylinders.  Sebright also became a customer of AllPhase sending us their cylinder work.  Other divisions were started and formed including our Body Shop department, Motor Home/RV department and Crane department. Some years into the business we recognized the need to call the compactor department, Speed-Tech Equipment, being more applicable to what we do such as compactors, balers, trucks docks, and overhead doors.

As of today, we have 3 buildings in Hudsonville, MI and employ over 175 people.  The Speed-Tech Equipment division also has a building in Plymouth, MI to support our service technicians in the Detroit and Toledo area.  Speed-Tech has 26 mobile service trucks, 3 install trucks and 4 parts trucks on the road everyday. We strive hard to respond quickly and live up to our name “Speed”-Tech, taking care of our customers.  With hard work and committed employees, we have grown a lot over the years and have been blessed and privileged to come this far in our journey.  Many thanks to our customers and all who have helped us get there.
